Revolutionary Grilled Salmon

Independence-Day-MealThis is an easy and delicious salmon recipe that everyone loves. The marinade gives the fish a lovely caramelized glaze during grilling. You can put the salmon in the marinade, prepare your side dishes and set the table, then about 15 minutes before serving, put the fish on the grill. Do be careful not to marinade for longer than an hour, as stated below.

Grilled Salmon

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/2 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Scotch whiskey (or your favorite whiskey)
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Make the marinade by mixing together oil, soy, Scotch, garlic, ground pepper, and brown sugar.
  2. Pour over salmon fillets in a shallow glass baking dish.
  3. Marinade 1 hour in the refrigerator (no longer than an hour or the salt in the soy will start to cook the fish).
  4. Drain salmon; reserve the marinade.
  5. Place the salmon on lightly greased grill grates and cook on medium for approximately 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. (9 minutes on one side, then flip and finish cooking.)
  6. Brush salmon generously with marinade several times during cooking.
  7. Salmon is done when the fish is tender and flakes with a fork.
