Sugar and Spice Pecans

  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 8 ounces raw pecan halves
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil


  1. Preheat oven to 325ºF.

  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  3. In a small mixing bowl combine the two sugars, cayenne pepper, cumin, black pepper and salt.

  4. Heat a frying pan on medium-low heat.

  5. Add the olive oil and pecans.

  6. Stir until pecans are coated and warm.

  7. Remove from heat.

  8. Add the sugar and spice mix to the pecans and toss until well coated.

  9. Spread this mixture on your prepared baking sheet.

  10. Bake for a total of 13-15 minutes and halfway through baking give the pecans a good stir.

  11. These are delicious served warm or at room temperature.

These will keep for up to 6 months if stored tightly covered in a cool dark place; they will keep for a year in your refrigerator.
